The Constructure team can be forgiven if they struggled to get back to business after the company had taken their famous annual staff outings to new heights.
This year, the staff from around the country gathered for three action packed days with culinary and cultural highlights, as well as the traditional physical challenges.
After several years of biking and hiking excursions around different parts of the country, the team this year changed tack with several water-based activities.
The first day of the long weekend, however, was all about relaxing and team-building with a treasure hunt on Waiheke Island finishing with the food and fine wines of the Mudbrick Winery.
The following day, the team was treated to a fishing charter and some nice swimming spots in the Hauraki Gulf. Thankfully the limited success with the fishing rods did not affect the big dinner.
Instead, the directors decided to thank the staff for their hard work over the year with a dining extravaganza in Cassia, the top restaurant in Auckland as voted by Metro magazine.
“Constructure is growing from strength to strength, thanks to the outstanding work of our people in Christchurch and Auckland, so we thought it was appropriate to show them our appreciation with a really special night,” said company director Cory Bedford.
In true Cory-style though, he was not going to let the staff off that easy and had a long line of kayaks waiting for them the following day for a trip down the Puhoi River. The afternoon was less exhausting with a visit to the Sculpture park at Brick Bay.
With several football tragics on staff, the weekend concluded with a mini-match in Victoria Park.
“It got pretty intense,” says Cory while rubbing a particularly sore knee. “Three days later, I was still hobbling around.”
